Rupee down 38 paise; over 1-year low against dollar

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 16,668.25 points, was ruling at 16,616.77 points, down 250.2 points or 1.48 percent from its previous close at 16,866.97 points.The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading lower, 1.55 percent down at 4,981 points.Broader markets were in the red too.
