Ajmer is nuzzled in the bottom of Aravali mountain ranges. There is a legendary abode of Muslim saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. It is situated in Rajasthan state of India. Prithviraj Chauhan is one of the famous kings known for his bravery. It was sacked by Mohammed Gauri on one of his periodic attacks of Afganistan. It also became favourite place for Mugal kings. This is a first place when Mugals and British came into contact with each other. Here Sir Thomas Roe met with Jahangir in 1616. Scindias have also conquered this city. The city went into the hands of British in 1818. It became one of the places in Rajasthan which was directly controlled by British.

Pushkar is just 11km far from Ajmer. Pushkar is an important pilgrimage for Hindu. There is a beautiful story behind the origin of this place. According to the tale Pushkar means a pond formed by flower. It is said that Brahma created this place for performing yagna. It is said that because of Brahma’s wife Savitri, Brahma can only be worshiped in Pushkar, for this reason there are no Brahma Temples elsewhere. This place is called as abode of Lord Brahma. A beautiful lake and a temple exist here. Large number of devotees gathered at this place to take bathe in the holy lake in the month of Kartik (Oct./Nov.)
